As a developing nation, Bangladesh’s annual consumption of fertilizers is tremendously large by volume. The majority of this demand is fulfilled by imports of this essential commodity. However, there have always been concerns regarding the quality of these imported products, with the government taking an initiative to create awareness amongst the rural communities. The biggest danger with the use of impure fertilizers is the long-term effect these are likely to have on the agricultural industry, with particular focus on the potential deterioration of the already challenged agricultural lands.

With the above in mind, Malik Group, in collaboration with Habib Group, established Bangladesh Fertilizers and Agrochemicals. The largest private investment in Bangladesh’s fertilizer sector (an investment of over $20 Million), it is the only SSP (single super phosphate) based fertilizer manufacturing company in Bangladesh.

The company owns a state of the art factory in Khulna, with a daily production capacity of up to 1700 Metric tonnes of SSP. The factory is also equipped with a sulphuric acid (H2SO4) plant, which produces the large volumes of this essential raw material for SSP fertilizer.

H2SO4 is an essential raw material for many industries, including the battery and steelmaking industries. Bangladesh Fertilizer And Agrochemicals Ltd. caters for the H2SO4 requirements of many such industries.

The long-term ambitions of the company are to continue manufacturing fertilizer of the highest quality, whilst maintaining fair prices, and continue to contribute towards the development of Bangladesh.
